Data Management Plans
Data Management Plans are formal documents that “typically state what data will be created and how, and outline the plans for sharing and preservation, noting what is appropriate given the nature of the data and any restrictions that may need to be applied.” (Digital Curation Centre, U.K.) A data management plan should demonstrate that data will be collected, stored, and preserved in a way that facilitates sharing, collaboration, reuse and reproducibility of results.
The Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy which came into effect on March of 2021 encourages that researchers submit Data Management Plans to accompany any application for funding of research where data will be collected or used. As a pilot, data management plans (DMP) will be required for all applications to the five Tri-Agency grants listed below in 2023.
